THE SECOND CONSTELLATION
AND STARHOUSE - GEMINI
June16-July17
The Sun is in the
Constellation of GEMINI:
Isn’t it amazing the way
the thousand and one things flash in and out of your mind at a moments notice?
You enjoy variety and novelty and always want to know what the latest fashion
trend is. The narrative line is important and you spend a lot of time in your
own mind talking to yourself. Not that you are engrossed in an inner dialogue
deliberately it just happens even when you are asleep. You spend a lot of time
rehearsing what you are going to say to people, some of whom are imaginary, or
what you should have said to people, some of whom are also imaginary.
Essentially alienated and
detached from your world you put great effort into trying to show a genuine
interest in others. But others don’t really exist for you beyond what ever
information you are able to gather about them. This makes you sad sometimes,
though not for long.
You act in the most
spontaneous adaptable and easy going manner ready to engage everyone and anyone.
You like to put on a very convincing display of how open minded and progressive
you are. This gives you enough popularity to get you invited along to the party.
You take the occasional trip through the dark side of town just to see what you
are missing out on.
Anything that offers
continuous variety novelty and change appeals to you. Journalism, Advertising,
Information Technology and sales involving travel are obvious choices. But you
are also extremely status conscious so you seek higher education and training
for the prestige they confer. You have a natural aptitude for music, writing,
science, information technology, and law.
Being highly secretive you
never let anyone know what you really think of them.
In the privacy of your
inner mind you judge everyone you meet slotting them into a private cast and
status system that you believe in. You lie to people as a matter of course and
only get caught when you have not been given enough time to rehearse.
Consequently you have become highly adept at changing the subject in a hurry.
You are convinced that
society is composed of two kinds of people: the privileged and the
underprivileged. You do everything in your power to be associated with the
privileged and become one of them.
In love you are a bit of a
lightweight due to the fact that you are really a bachelor at heart and never
let anyone get to where you really live. You never enter into anything without
thinking about how you are going to get back out of it should the need arise.
Consequently others pick up on a certain coldness and distance coming from you.
Real intimacy eludes you but you can be happy enough with someone just like you.
Your spiritual interests
tend to be wide ranging and eclectic. As you love to read and inform yourself
you probably have a collection of spiritual literature. You share what you have
found without ever committing to a specific spiritual path yourself. Beware of
the god/dess you worship in secret.
GEMINI:
Element: Mutable Air.
Ruler: Mercury + Venus:
Exaltation: None:
Detriment: Jupiter.
Fall: None.
Sense: Ego.
Philosophy: Mathematism.
Archetypal Zodiac: 2nd
House.
Age of Pisces: 4th
House.
The Quantity of self worth usually associated with the second starhouse has
everything to do with the condition of the Ego. The Ego in human beings is a
dual principle: “If you would know the world, look into yourself - if you would
know the self, look out into the world”.
Mercury-Venus, the Ruling planet of the constellation of Gemini, “rule” all of
man’s desire nature that reaches out beyond the instinctive need to survive as
a physical body, a species, or a simple member of a society. Venus rises above
all things natural and earthy and wishes to put the forces of the Earth at the
disposal of a higher life.
The desire for freedom and the higher life come to mankind as an inspiration
from the beings of Mercury-Venus. All art, architecture, music, Mysticism, dance,
literature, the love of refinement, come to us from the Mercury-Venus beings, who have
helped mankind life himself above raw nature to become a creator in his own
right.
Whereas the fifth starhouse of Virgo reveals the individual’s capacities as
a Mercury-Venus creator, the second starhouse of Gemini reveals the individual’s
ability to gain and handle resources of various kinds in the cause of
civilization. As all anthropologists know, civilization flourishes where a
greater quantity of resources than is needed for basic survival become
available. Needless to say, all civilization is the result of inspired
individuals imposing their personal and collective EGO upon the raw stuff of the
world of nature. All civilization involves the measured use of raw materials -
also the organization of schools of art, music, architecture, religion, etc.
The second starhouse of Gemini, ruled as it is by
Mercury-Venus, must of necessity be Ego in the context of Mathematism with
Quantity as its object. Of course, the Ego in this respect is a dual principle - mythically, that of the twins - the
dark Castor is bound to the Earth. The other, Pollux, is the shining immortal.
Through filial love of Pollux for Castor, they both become immortal and mortal.
To put it another way, the Ego of every human being walks the line between
the striving for a higher civilized life and the regression into egotistical
self-indulgence.
In the individual star chart, the condition of the second starhouse, its
ruler and Mercury-Venus, reveals the native’s command over resources and the extent to
which the native will put resources at the service of civilization, or selfishly
accumulate wealth for personal egotistical gratification.
It is a convention in all civilizations, down through history that truly
cultured people care nothing for wealth as such, but see it simply as a means to
bring expensive aspects of cultural and civil life into being. In that case, it
is easily seen through the condition of Venus in the birth chart, how the native
interacts with the surrounding culture and if they are a laborer, skilled
worker, professional, academic, artist or mystic. The tenor or mood of the
native’s Ego is also revealed by Venus, its Starhouse position and the aspects
to it.
The Second Starhouse of Gemini is, therefore, involved with the uplifting of
raw resources from a lower to a higher level. It is a rule of star wisdom that
the second starhouse does not reveal its activity directly but always transmits
its influences to the other starhouse of its rulership. In the case of the
archetypal zodiac, the other starhouse is the fifth, Virgo.
Whereas Venus-Mercury, ruler of the 1st and 6th
starhouses, is concerned with a reflective co-ordinative activity which is
motivated by the need to adapt to society and at the same time to strive to gain
an overview of things, Mercury-Venus is motivated by love, enthusiasm, desire, albeit,
refined desire. Mercury-Venus “knows” that it is superior and its attitude is: “I think
we can do better than this and here’s how”. Mercury-Venus in the chart rules the
native’s self love and its ardent projection upon the world at large.
A weak and seriously afflicted Mercury-Venus will reveal self hate and extreme negative
emotion directed towards the world, coupled with an abuse or misuse of
resources. This can also be thought of as “negative” superiority!
Gemini is a masculine, mutable air sign; Mercury-Venus ruling here, gives androgynous
qualities. As Venus in its highest aspect is Mysticism, we find here the source
of all desires to withdraw to everything of value from Earth life and carry it
up into another world. A regressive and out-moded Mysticism wishes to own only
spiritual worlds of selfish self-perfection. In these retarded mysticisms we
find egotistically mystical persons who pride themselves upon their pure
vegetarian diets, their perfectly regulated lives, their avoidance of the
physical expression of romantic sexual love, their attitude of superiority
towards the mere masses, and their conviction that their cultural values are the
only ones worth having. It is an article of faith and philosophy with these
antisocial mystics that the Ego is bad.
In the light of the above, several concrete attributes can be examined through
the second starhouse. For instance, the native’s eating habits and tastes; the
regulation of lifestyle; control of sexual energy as a resource; attitude toward
society at large; nature and aims of personal desires and, of course, attitude
towards the Ego of self and others.
Ambivalence is a word that can be applied to the second starhouse should it be
the recipient of detrimental aspects. Should the 2nd starhouse and its ruler be
well aspected, the above attributes will express themselves in a positive way,
with the native able to strike the right balance between the extremes of
earthbound philistinism and ecstatic mysticism.
Gemini is an extreme constellation.
About Mercury & Venus: Hermes & Aphrodite: Hermaphrodite:
The Sacred Hermaphrodite Means:
The Mystical Marriage Within The Innermost Self With The Sun: The Self’s Abiding
Within Beness.
Buddhi: Sacred Soul: = Venus: Mysticism.
Manas: Innate intelligence:= Mercury: Transcendentalism:
Before The Modern Era The Planet We Now Call Mercury was Called Venus. And The
Planet We Now Call Venus Was Called Mercury. This Can Be Confirmed By Looking At
Any Classical or Ancient Map Of The Solar System.
How is this to be understood? The Sun Venus and Mercury were understood by the
Egyptians who originated
Astrology As Osiris Isis And Horus.
This Triune Deity was later Called God The Father The Holy Spirit and Jesus.
This Triune Deity was also called the LOGOS: The Authentic Unifying
Individuality within the Manifold field of Perception and Experience. In This sense every individual Self is a true Logos.
It is advisable to understand Mercury And Venus As a twofold yet Single
Integrated Awareness State Of the Authentic Individual. For Instance it is Most
Illuminating To See Ones Natal Mercury as Venus and ones natal Venus as Mercury.
In the case of their conjunction within one Sidereal Sign this is almost
unavoidable. But when they are in different Signs and Elements the results of
this interchanged analysis can be Highly Revealing. The principle, to be kept in
mind and understood, is that Mercury Articulates and Expresses Venus. And Venus
Understands and makes Mercury Present as self apprehending Self-awareness.
Mercury/Venus are the Transcendental-Presence Horizon of Self Awareness.
The following example will illustrate. You are Listening to a Concert of Complex
Emotionally moving Music, to which you have given yourself over entirely; so
that you have Become the Music. A vast inner space filled with the self as music
has opened up within you.
At the Horizon of this inner space Mercury spontaneously understands the
beautiful complexity of the Music and Venus feels it deeply.
Or again: You are looking at a visual artistic masterpiece. The subject matter
and colors invoke deep complex feelings: Venus. While you simultaneously
appreciate the technical virtuosity and composition: Mercury. Meditation is one
of the ways to cultivate and sensitize this Awareness State.
It was surely a Mercury Venus Conjunction that said “Truth is Beauty and Beauty
Truth”.
